Below you will see some information about our core services.  Ultra-Scan® ScanningThe technology used is exactly the same as hospitals use for pregnancy confirmation and diagnosis. However, Ultra-Scan® have made adaptations to the equipment which now makes the scanning of dairy cows extremely viable.Pregnancy Scanning is relatively simple and stress-free for the cow and is very time efficient. While the scan takes place in the rectal environment, it causes the cow little discomfort, The scan can take place as early as 30 days, and up until 90 days the whole calf can be seen on the screen. Positive diagnosis can still be achieved through to parturition. Your experienced Ultra-Scan® technician can date to within 5 to 10 days and sex can be determined at certain times. Approximately 200 cows per hour can be scanned by an experienced Ultra-Scan® technician.  Cows can be scanned during milking on a rotary platform and between milkings in a herringbone cow shed.Pre-mating scan to confirm OvulationAnoestrus cows can be identified by an Ultra-Scan® technician prior to mating with accuracy levels in excess of 90%. By confirming the cows who are not cycling from those who are having silent heats early, procedures can be put in place to improve their conception rate with less expense.All the equipment necessary for the procedure is provided by your Ultra-Scan® technician and is standard across the company. Calf Disbudding (Dehorning)Ultra-Scan® also specialises in calf disbudding and is now the largest company of this type. Ultra-Scan® disbudded upwards of 100,000 calves in 2005. This has become a standard procedure on most dairy farms. The calves are disbudded using gas-burners.
