 About Ultra-Scan® Ultra-Scan®'s core business is confirming the pregnancy of farm animals using real-time ultrasound equipment, we also provide other farm related services e.g. Dehorning calves (disbudding), De Teating, DNA Sampling , Convenient Tagging and Pre-mating Scans to Confirm Ovulation. Ultra-scan was established in 1994 becoming an incorporated company in early 1996 with the McDonalds and Johansens as partners. They could see  the advantages of forming a Company to provide services to meet the untapped potential in this field of animal husbandry. The system they developed is now a proven concept in the dairy industry.Demand for the service grew rapidly and by their fouth season the pair were scanning 130,000 cows,50,000 ewes and 10,000 hinds.  Franchisees were sought to increase capacity. The number of cows scanned by Ultra-Scan has increased to an excess of 400,000 per year. In 2005 a new Franchise was offered in the scanning of sheep,deer and goats, taking over the origonal work developed by the partners.
